I finally found some time!

I found some time last night to finally catch up on some scrapbooking (the old school way LOL!) Remember my resolution? I’ve got to continue to make time for this. This is partly my journal – a journal through photos you could say. My style is quite simple, which suits me because I can do 7 pages in a couple of hours quite easily that way. I can’t imgine having to spend hours just to complete ONE layout – I’d NEVER get caught up that way. SO, I nestled in with some whole grain Tostidos, some diet Mug Rootbeer and the movie “Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang” and I was ready to go! I don’t remember ever watching that movie all the way through, and since my kids got it for Christmas, I figured now was as good a time as any. Interesting show – completely Dick Van Dyke! ANyway, back to the pages. These are all photos from last year – yes I’m starting to get caught up. I used all kinds of supplies, but the most exciting one, I’ll tell you about a little later on in this entry. For now, just have a quick gander at what I did last night. You’ll notice I used my foam letter stickers from the Dollar store (Dollarama). I LOVE knowing I only spent $1 per package – I actually feel justified in using them. LOL!

Okay, so for the fun supply I used – it was my new Quickutz Silhouette digital craft cutter! YAY! I used money I received from Christmas to order one of these babies, and I’m LOVING it! I cut out the words “Oh those” above and the fun flowers, swirls, and title below. You basically type in whatever you want it to cut, and it does!

I was nervous about getting it because it says it will only cut out True Type fonts. I didn’t know what that meant, really, wondering how many fonts that included. But I found that nearly every font I have in Word works with it – including my all time fav. font of CK Becky!! YES! It also comes with about 50 shapes that it will cut, with a bunch more you can purchase online if you want. I will be using it primarily for cutting out my titles, but really there is almost no limit. I love it!

I got home from church today and felt the desire for something sweet. I cracked open my SLow Cooker recipe book and came across this yummy recipe (which I actually cooked in my oven because my slow cooker was busy cooking a pork roast – ha!) I have to share this recipe because it’s SO easy and yummers, too!

Bumbleberry Cobbler
1 Cup flour
1/2 Cup sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt

2 large eggs, fork-beaten
2 Tbsp. cooking oil
2 Tbsp. Milk
1 tsp. Vanilla

3 cups mixed fresh or frozen berries (I used the tripleberry frozen mix from Costco)
3/4 cup sugar (you could use a little less – maybe 1/2 cup)
1/2 Cup water

Stir first 5 ingredients together in a bowl. Add the next 4 ingredients and mix well. Turn into an ungreased slow cooker (or into a ceramic pie plate if cooking in the oven). Measure the last 3 ingredients into a saucepan and heat until boiling, stirring occasionally. Pour over the batter. If cooking in the slow cooker, place 5 paper towels between the top of the slow cooker and the lid to absorb moisture and cook on high for 1-2 hours. If using oven, place on middle rack of a 400F oven and bake for about 20 minutes. This serves about 6-8 – depending on your appetite 😉 It would have been so yummy with some Breyers Vanilla Ice Cream – but it was the Sabbath, and we didn’t have any. Oh well – next time.

Oh and one more quick thing. We were shopping at the local Giant Tiger store (which I had never before been in) and found this awesome clock for under $10! Score! I wanted either a circular clock or mirror for that spot above our bed, and this did the trick! Of course, I don’t have any batteries because the ticking would keep me awake all night! LOL! I guess there are some benefits to digital clocks (which we have on our dresser). I still love it. It matches perfectly. I sure love a good deal!

That’s all for now! Hope you had a great weekend!
