My Baby Is Getting Baptized!

 Well… it’s official. I’m old.

I mean, it’s no surprise. My kids have been telling me for years, but it still crept up on me. My BABY is almost 8, and will be getting baptized! I can’t even express how excited she is for this big step in her life.
I can hardly believe that this will be the last time that I will be watching one of my own children enter the waters of baptism. It’s a bit surreal. I’ve had a lot of “firsts”, but it’s the “lasts” of life that really get me.
We  decided to spend some time getting a few photos to use in her baptismal program and her invite. The mosquitos were out in full force, so we only had minutes before this girl was DONE with a capital “D”!!
I am so happy with the shots we managed to get, and the look and feel of “promise” that she evoked in these photos.
She is so anxious to follow in the footsteps of the Savior and be baptized. And we are anxious to support her. We love you, JJ!
Yep  it’ll be great to be eight!

New Blue Neighbors!

Use what talents you possess: the woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang best. – Henry Van Dyke

We have a pair of blue jays building a nest in the pine tree in our backyard. I was able to catch these photos of the male jay – the female was just too quick for me! Yes, these birds may not have the most beautiful song, but I’m glad they have decided to call our tree home so we can appreciate their beauty.
I can’t wait to start seeing some baby jays! Good luck, little birdies!

Hittin’ The Trails!

Last week we hit the trails, right here in our beautiful little city! Medicine Hat ’s extensive hiking/biking trail system is over 92 kilometres – that is a lot to explore! With the weather being nice and warm (average of about +17 that week) we decided to explore the trails by the large tipi right off the #1 highway.
Even with winter barely taking it’s exit (and, let’s face it, I’m in Canada so winter might just be hiding for a few days) there was a lot of beauty to be seen.

I can’t wait to see more of these trails as the seasons change and even more color appears!
I did see a bit of color, though, in these feathery little friends!
